The Fergusson College in Pune was founded in the year 1892 and became fully functional from 1895 onward. The Fergusson College Placement Cell has a ‘Career Facilitation Centre’ (CFC) for assisting students with the training and placement process. It was established to provide placements for students from the computer science streams but was later expanded into the central placement system for students from other streams. Fergusson College placement activities focus on skill development, industrial training, internships, research and development etc. All of these activities form an integral part of the Fergusson College placement process.
Many top companies visit Fergusson College Pune for recruiting graduates. The college also offers internship opportunities to students and roughly 75 to 80 percent of the students get placement offers. Fergusson College Pune has a rich history and is known for its infrastructure. It has a well-stocked library and the first floor of the library serves the purpose of a reading hall for the students as it can easily accommodate around 400 students being one of the largest reading rooms of any library in Maharashtra.
There is the Fergusson College library on the ground floor which has more than 2,50,000 books and various research journals. The Fergusson College campus has a botanical garden with rare and even endangered plants, it has large playing fields with the provision of sports facilities for the students and hostels. Fergusson College also has an NM Amphitheatre which can easily accommodate around 1500 people and is one of the biggest auditoriums to be found in any college in Pune.
Career Facilitation Centre- The Fergusson College Career Facilitation Centre (CFC) was established in the early 90s at the institute as a training and placement cell for offering industrial interface and assistance when it comes to placements for computer science courses. Later, the cell expanded as it started getting more projects from industries and also more courses were introduced in the college so the CFC's interactions with various industries increased. Many top national and international companies visit the college for campus recruitment.
Classrooms- Fergusson College has a sufficient number of classrooms (79) which are very well ventilated with spacious seating arrangements. In many of these classrooms, conventional as well as advanced teaching aids can be used.
Laboratories- There are 52 laboratories for general programmes and 15 laboratories for research. Fergusson College laboratories for research in ‘Animal Cell Culture’ and ‘Plant Tissue Culture’ are housed in the department of biotechnology. All science laboratories are ICT supported. The department of animation laboratories has high-end facilities like workstations with 2D and 3D animation.
Research facilities- The Fergusson College campus houses special research facilities including a ‘Central Instrumentation laboratory’ (Chemical Sciences, Life and Earth Sciences), which has high-end research equipment like Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography, Gas Chromatograph, Infrared Spectroscopy and UV-visible Spectrophotometer.
Amphitheatre- There are 13 audio-visual halls and one amphitheatre (Heritage Building) and a recently constructed open-air amphitheatre. Kimaya and Lower Recreation Hall are separate spaces marked for extra-curricular activities.
Hostel- Fergusson College features excellent hostel facilities for both boys and girls. There are six hostel blocks in total, four for boys and two for girls. Fergusson College hostel has a total capacity of 587 students (427 boys and 160 girls). The boys' hostel blocks are located to the north of campus, while the girls' hostel blocks are positioned to the east. Admissions to the hostels are completed through ERP online by using your ERP password. Hostel facilities such as TV, newspapers, magazines, badminton hall, volleyball ground, basketball, etc. are made available for the hostilities.

The ‘Gokhale Scholarship’ is offered to two students of Fergusson College who have completed bachelors degrees in physics or chemistry and who plan to go on to get masters degrees at accredited institutes in India.
